Reiki

Preparing for a Session

Picture
A Reiki session should be viewed as a special and spiritual event. You will experience deep relaxation that will assist you in tapping into your soulful self.

During your session, a Reiki practitioner places his/her hands on an area of a client's clothed body. Reiki flows through the practitioner into the client. This transfer can be felt by the client as any type of sensation (heat, cold, vibration, etc.).

A full Reiki session typically lasts about 60 minutes with additional consultation time following the therapy.

Following a Reiki session, be sure to drink plenty of water. Also, taking an Epsom salt bath, soaking for 15-20 minutes in warm water, will be very beneficial as well.

What does Reiki do?

It affects each person differently, but ALWAYS acts wherever the receiver needs it most.

  • Accelerates natural healing; shortens post-surgical time
  • Relieves pain
  • Reduces stress and tension
  • Promotes a spiritual connection
  • Calms, nutures, and comforts
  • Relaxes muscle spasms
  • Releases emotional blockages and suppressed feelings
  • Balances body organs and glands
  • Is effective on acute or chronic illness or injury
  • Clears toxins
  • Enhances personal awareness and assists meditative states
  • Promotes creativity
  • Strengthens life force energy
  • Strengthens intuition
TRUTH:
  • It is one of the most ancient healing methods known to mankind
  • It is a Japanese word meaning "Breath of Spirit"; REI (Universal Life) KI (Energy)
  • It is a natural, simple, non-invasive method which accesses the source of Life to enhance healing on the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels
  • It is beneficial in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote an accelerated recovery process
  • It replenishes and balances the energy, especially in chronic conditions
  • It is instinctive!...every one knows innately how to use Reiki (placing our hand over an injury)
  • It is empowering!...it awakens the inner self and opens the mind to the necessity for taking responsibility for one's own life

MYTH:

  • It is not a religion, nor is it about any belief system
  • It is not capable of misuse, intentional harm, and does not drain energy from the healer
  • It is not a substitute for traditional medical or psychological treatment
