Clean Beauty: Health is our responsibility

I frequently get asked why I selected Beautycounter as my go to company for safe, clean products?
My mission is to support individuals in revealing their highest potential. Meaning... I desire to assist them in expressing optimal health (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually). Awareness is essential in establishing this alignment and expression. The reality is that we are bombarded with toxins. Whether that be in the air we breathe or the soil we walk on, to the foods that we consume and the products that we use... we are surrounded.
Our government regulations are very loose and, in my opinion, hazardous. Our HEALTH is our responsibility. No one else is responsible, and it has been evident over the years that no big changes are occurring within our government to change these contributing factors. So, that leaves US... that leaves us to be the creators of change!

There are known links that these chemicals permitted to be used in our home and beauty products cause hormone disruption, cancer and allergies (just to name a few). Does this upset me? YES, but more importantly it inspires me to do something about it, not just play victim to the current state. I'm raising a teenage daughter who is exploring the beauty world, expressing her artistic abilities with makeup and hair. Young ladies are finding their self worth and confidence as they are going through some challenging hormonal changes. They are transitioning from young ladies to women, in body, emotion and mind. This can be a difficult period. They are more concerned about how the world perceives them rather than looking at the long term effects on their health and well-being. It is my responsibility as a consumer and as a parent to educate her about these potential dangers and assist her in making healthier choices. These decisions shouldn't come from FEAR but simple truth and awareness.

Like every lifestyle change my family and I have made over the years, it's progressive. We started with a section of our products and continue to build over time. Living healthy isn't about perfection and rigidity it's about movement and progress. Be flexible and patient with the process and you will have more success.

I encourage everyone to start taking stock of all the products you use in any given day. I read that women use 12 personal care products a day. In my opinion, that number seems low. Think about it, very wide eyed and without judgement. What's your routine from the moment you wake? Do you use toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine products, floss, soap, shaving cream, razor, shampoo, deodorant, lotion, perfume,  nail polish, makeup...???? And so on. Then, go a bit deeper. Is your toilet paper filled with any moisturizing agents (aloe)? Does your razor have one of those good smelling, goopy strips on it to protect you from cutting yourself? Does your floss have any flavors or coatings added to it? I know it may seem tedious and feel a bit overwhelming, but awareness is key. Once we have the awareness we are able to make different choices.

From here you are able to prioritize and determine a starting point in creating healthier options for you and your family. This is where Beautycounter came in to play for us. We started with our skincare, then gradually incorporated body/hair products and last makeup/beauty products. My entire family is in LOVE with Beautycounter's products. My husband will not travel without HIS travel kit (shampoo, conditioner, charcoal bar, daily moisturizer, body lotion). This still blows my mind, because in the 12 years we've been together I've never known him to wash his face, let alone use moisturizer!

I chose Beautycounter initially because their integrity and transparency. There mission is simple, to get safer products into the hands of everyone. When a product doesn't live up to this standard, through their consistent and rigorous testing process, then they take responsibility and hold true to their word. They do not hide or withhold any information from the consumer. The product is more important than the profit. Secondly, their products are exceptional. There hasn't been a product I've used that I don't love; as well, they last for a good duration in comparison to other companies products. My skin has changed (for the better) since using them. I've always had problematic skin. Now, my blemishes that never fully healed are healing and my skin tone is more balanced.

I know that using these products in conjunction with my nutritional regimen and other integrative modalities has created a more sound and healthier body. My hormones are beginning to regulate and becoming more stable. It has been life changing.

I am incredibly grateful to Beautycounter for their continued endeavors to create awareness and products that are safer for mankind. I now feel confident in the products I provide for my family, myself, and those clients we support.
